چکیده
The African endemic hover fly Meromacroides meromacriformis (Bezzi, 1915) (Syrphidae, Eristalinae) was described more than a century ago and its monotypic status established in 1927, but subsequent collections publications are rare. Only the male has been nothing is known about biology. We re-describe male, including geographic variation, describe female for first time provide DNA barcodes species. Despite large range observed variations, there insufficient evidence to additional taxa genus. Biological observations presented, which may shed some insight into this rare enigmatic fly, whose distribution now spans Afrotropical Region.

Study on miscellaneous specimens collected from Iran and locus classicus of the species, France, revealed that P. terebinthi is an automacrocyclic rust and its aecial state is not uredinioi...

Recent phylogenetic analyses of Ocyptamus Macquart, 1834 (Diptera, Syrphidae) confirmed the paraphyly of this genus and provided evidence to divide it into several monophyletic subgroups, of which the largest is the clade traditionally treated as the Ocyptamus tristis species group. This group is here redefined, divided into the genera Pelecinobaccha Shannon, 1927 and Relictanum gen. nov., and ...
